About us

We build the page you open the most

Z TAB started as a private tool for people who live in the browser: dozens of tabs, thousands of bookmarks and a new tab page that did nothing useful. It grew into one product that spans the web, Chrome and Firefox.

What we are trying to do

Make the first surface of the browser genuinely productive — fast, keyboard-first, private by default and identical on every device you sign into.

What we value

Speed is a feature

The new tab paints before you can think. Nothing blocks on the network, and every widget degrades to a calm placeholder.

Your data is yours

Row level security on every user-owned table, admin checks on the server, and a plain export whenever you want to leave.

Keyboard first

Search, folders, selection and bulk actions all work without touching the mouse, with visible focus everywhere.

One product, many surfaces

The extensions are not a copy of the web app. They are the same source tree talking to the same backend.

How we got here

  1. 2024

    The itch

A weekend script that replaced the new tab with a search bar and twelve shortcuts.

  2. 2025

    Sync layer

Revision cursors, an offline queue and a shared schema for web and extension clients.

  3. 2026

    Widgets and reader

A movable widget dock, the notebook reading queue and the bookmark explorer rewrite.

  4. Next

    Store releases

Signed builds on the Chrome Web Store and addons.mozilla.org, plus a mobile start page.
